Posted on August 13, 2012 by Michael Nitschke in Restaurants 4 Comments
Pizza Mount Barker

Whether you like it round or square, covered in topping or simple, thin crust or thick, takeaway or dine in – Pizza has to be one of the greatest foods on earth! Adelaide Hills Magazine recently highlighted their favourite Pizza Restaurants in the Adelaide Hills which was a great read. We have lots of different options to choose from if you are chasing some Pizza in Mount Barker, and today I thought I would highlight some of the favourite pizza restaurants in our area if you want the perfect slice.

PIZZA GIOVANNI MOUNT BARKER

Phone: 8398 3399

One of the well established restaurants of our area, Pizza Giovanni on Morphett Street is a family owned business with a delicious menu for dine in or takeaway. Pizza Giovanni was established in 1975 by Giovanni & Tina Mignone. My personal favourite on their menu is the Calzone – do you agree? One thing for sure if you have been a member of our community for a while then you would have heard the phrase “lets head to Gio’s” before around dinner time!

 CAFFE ACQUA

Phone: 8391 3771

As mentioned previously on this blog, Caffe Acqua has a menu that is an absolute delight and their Pizza is awesome. My personal favourite is the Yiros Pizza – yum! Caffe Acqua can do takeaway and dine in, so make sure you check out their menu and let me know what you think.

 BUBBA PIZZA

Phone: 8391 6922

Relatively new to our area but experienced in the Pizza scene is Bubba Pizza Mount Barker. They primarily do take away and have a great range of pizzas at affordable prices.

FASTA PASTA

Phone: 8391 6009

Fasta Pasta have recently opened in the heart of Mount Barker off Stephen Street, and it might surprise you that they also have fantastic Pizza in addition to their impressive pasta menu. Their restaurant is perfect for families and the service is fast and friendly.

Unfortunately there are no ‘great’ pizza places in Mount Barker. ‘Good’ is as good as it gets.

thanks for your comment Bruce. I guess it depends what tastes you have – some of the places in this list many people in our area rave about. Others dont like it. All comes down to personal preference. I would love to see more wood oven pizza restaurants come to the area – Jimmies Pizza in Crafers is one of my favourites.

    my fave is bubbas;
    why u ask???
there  pizza bases are made fresh daily , no second hand stuff next day , that’s 1
    2. is, there toppings are fresh , yes fresh not pre packed by barker boy, sourced local fresh produce, and you can see what you are actually getting as its all on display for you
    3.  is that they are local people doing a great job in offering the freshest product at a price that everyone can afford, not like others!!!
    4. is they have great staff who are friendly and are local kids 10 in all.

ok for someone who used to work in Giovanni’s Last Year. I have a few answers to your above ‘statements’.

    1. No “Good” pizza base is made fresh, if it is then it’s not a pizza base. As the Yeast and dough need the time to settle and rest. So if the bases are “Made fresh daily” then that’s probably an advertising lie from the makers as it is impossible to make it “fresh” the day of service.
    2. Although there is no denying what items are in front of you and are considered fresh. This statement actually tells me that they open the ingredients and items “behind the scenes” and put them in a container or “steel pot” for the world to see. You stating this is basically saying that there is NO boxes, Tins or anything of the like leaving Bubbas Pizza in Mt Barker. So there is no cardboard wastage being taken out the the bins and thrown away? There is no “franchise” that can exist if the items are being purchased FRESH. it is just not warrant financially. half to 3/4 of the items would come in bags, containers, tins or packets.  No business can sustain themselves if it’s being ‘all’ picked up from “local” produce/seafoods!!
Classic Example: Look at the chicken, your gonna tell me it’s NOT packet? the bacon is same thickness and look. If anything is the cut/size/colour then it’s packet. easy!!

    3. What makes a ‘local business’ given the term Local? They live local, they have their house and kids in this town, thats good. Then why not risk it and open a ‘locally’ based pizza place and not go for a “franchise” such as Bubba’s Pizza? Sorry, but the term “local” is thrown around soooo much these days it’s lost all meaning.

    4. And this one i wont pick on, cause not only does it take good food to make a place, it’s design, staff and friendliness. im sorry, but to state so many examples of in correctness on your post is just to much to ignore.
